Since its launch in May 2024, Wuthering Waves has made a name for itself as a top-notch game in the open-world gacha genre. The game’s first major update, version 2.0, was released on January 2, 2025, and it brought a lot of new features to the table.
As a free-to-play anime-style ARPG, it has gained recognition and even got nominated at The Game Awards 2024. With a promising 2025 ahead, the game is set to expand its offerings. Kuro Games has already shared its vision for the future of Wuthering Waves.

After the successful launch of version 2.0, Kuro Games’ representatives addressed the player community. They noted that user ratings on platforms like TapTap and BiliBili have been improving steadily.
The developers reiterated that prioritizing quality content is essential, and that includes taking player suggestions into account. Some of the key areas of feedback so far include requests for more male Resonators, improvements to farming world bosses, and an option to change Rover’s gender.
Wuthering Waves Announces Regular Major Patches
In a recent interview with Webzine, Kuro Games’ CEO, Solon, confirmed the company’s commitment to a structured update schedule. Major patches will be introduced every six months, ensuring a continuous stream of content.
While the next major location remains undisclosed, Solon reminded fans that there are still unexplored regions in Huanglong and Rinascita. These updates will introduce several new regions, potentially between seven and eleven, based on existing world-building elements.
New Resonators, Weapons, and Events Coming to Wuthering Waves
Players can look forward to new Resonators, weapons, echoes, and seasonal events being introduced throughout the year. Additional Twitch Drops and exclusive rewards will provide incentives for newcomers joining in 2025.
Wuthering Waves will also reintroduce past Resonators through rerun banners, and upcoming updates will feature entirely new characters. Solon mentioned that gun-wielding characters are being carefully considered, given the popularity of Carlotta, introduced in version 2.0.
Quality of Life Changes and Multiplayer Updates
Future updates will introduce additional gameplay enhancements, new original soundtracks, and optimizations for performance, visuals, and map navigation. PlayStation 5 players can expect further refinements, as the studio works on delivering a more polished experience.
Multiplayer functionality will also continue evolving as new regions and updates arrive. With co-op mode proving to be a popular feature, players can anticipate expanded opportunities to traverse the world of Rinascita alongside friends.
